PAULI MURRAY CREW

To become a Pauli Murray crew member, you must complete all four activities listed below in a calendar year (January - December). Pauli Murray crew members will earn a members only crew hoodie and invitations to Pauli Murray crew only events and trainings.

• Commit to ten hours or more of support for movement groups by:

  • By responding to L4BL calls to action to offer legal support and other skills;

  • By connecting to local movement organizations and building meaningful relationships of trust and accountability with them;

  • By offering your skills and expertise to movement groups locally; 

  • By applying movement lawyering principles and practice to your work both as individual attorneys and institutional lawyers to build the power of movement.

• Engage meaningfully in ten hours or more of political education:

  • By attending our online political education groups and webinars;

  • By engaging in study at your local political home;

  • By engaging in study with other lawyers and comrades you work with;

  • By attending CLE’s and trainings that focus on movement lawyering, abolition, anti-capitalism, Black queer feminism or one of L4BL’s stated policy priorities.

• Build with one another and strengthen the Movement Lawyering infrastructure locally and nationally; 

  • By attending regional events or membership meetings;

  • By engaging in online groups/threads or chats on the member portal;

  • By contributing materials and briefs to the resource hub in the member portal;

  • By hosting a Dinner with Radical Lawyers;

  • By hosting local events, get togethers, study groups or skill based training.

• Bring at least two others into membership in one calendar year. 

All activities that count toward crew membership will be reported to L4BL annually via a tracking form sent during the first week of January. Please keep track of your own activities and referrals and be prepared to record them in the form to redeem your crew prizes.
